Every student deserves an opportunity to thrive
Newman International Academy’s Special Education team provides support services to students with disabilities in a manner that promotes respect and dignity while fostering academic excellence and social and emotional growth.
Students who meet eligibility criteria and require specially designed instruction have access to a full continuum of services based on their individual educational needs.
The Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee determines the appropriate services, supports and least restrictive environment in which each student’s Individualized Education Program will be implemented.
Services & Support

Eligibility, instruction, accommodations and related services are determined through established evaluation and committee processes.
Special Education
Specially designed instruction, related services, accommodations and supports developed through the ARD and IEP process.
Section 504
Campus committees review evaluation information and develop accommodation plans for eligible students who need equal access to educational programs.
Dyslexia Services
Individualized, explicit and multisensory reading instruction delivered by educators trained in dyslexia and related disorders.
Records Requests
Special Education records are transmitted electronically through TREx or by email when records are being sent to an out-of-state school.
Educational Eligibility
Disability categories
Eligibility is not based on a diagnosis alone. A student must meet applicable criteria and demonstrate a need for specially designed instruction.
Child Find
Concerned about a child’s learning or development?
Child Find is the process used to identify, locate and evaluate children who may need special education and related services. Parents, guardians, teachers and caregivers may raise a concern or request an evaluation.
Families of currently enrolled students may begin by contacting the student’s teacher, campus administrator or the Special Education Department.
Share your concern
Contact the student’s teacher, campus administrator or the Special Education Department to discuss the concern.
Request an evaluation
A parent or guardian may make a verbal or written request for an initial special education evaluation.
Review the evaluation
The ARD committee reviews the evaluation and determines eligibility, services, accommodations and placement.
Develop the student’s plan
When a student is eligible, the committee develops an IEP designed around the student’s individual educational needs.
